From May 27-31, 2023, I had the pleasure of attending Congress 2023 at York University, where I presented at the Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English (ACCUTE) and the Canadian Society for Digital Humanities (CSDH).

My ACCUTE presentation was part of a panel on Social Media Lit. I presented my dissertation research on the ways in which relatability structures the kinds of feminism that can appear in Instagram poetry.

At CSDH, I participated in a panel titled “Future Horizons: Digital Humanities in Canada”. The panel brought together several contributing authors to the forthcoming collection, Future Horizons: Canadian Digital Humanities (University of Ottawa Press, 2023). Along with my co-authors Sarah Roger and Paul Barrett, I shared details of my contribution to the collection: an interview with Sandra Djwa in which we discusses Djwa’s digital concordance of Canadian poetry, developed at the University of British Columbia in the mid-1960s.
In addition to my own presentations, I had the pleasure of attending so many interesting presentations, including presentations by J Shea-Carter, Tanja Grubnic, Julia Polyck-O’Neill, Aaron Tucker, Arun Jacob, Kim Martin & Thomas Smith, and many, many others. It was wonderful to catch up with friends and make many new acquaintances!
