On Saturday, January 4, 2025, I joined a live poetry film screening and panel hosted by Samita Nandy of the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies (CMCS) and the CMCS Wall of Fame Film Festival.
A work-in-progress version of my poetry film “family video”, featuring my poem of the same name that was originally published in FEELS Issue 19: Shame, was screened during the event. The screening followed the screening and discussion of the trailer for “In an Ideal World I’d Not Be Murdered,” a poetry film collection written by Chaucer Cameron and produced by Helen Dewbery.
We had a lively discussion about the healing powers of poetry and the transformative nature of the poetry film medium. Watch the full event below:
